Shared office spaces are being established throughout urban centers to meet the growing population of professionals who want to work independently or for themselves. These spaces provide workstations for focus, community spaces for meetings and often feature ergonomic and on-trend design. While these spaces offer many benefits, coworking can lose its convenience for those living far from the city.
In her article, “The Future of Work is De-Urbanized,” Janet Matta calls for more coworking spaces in the suburban market. She makes the argument that professionals need these shared spaces closer to home, as more and more people are priced out of the city and buy houses in the suburbs.
